The piano piece that Ada always plays in the movie "The Piano."

    It's a New Zealand movie.

I also adore the piece "Mariage D'amour" played by Richard Clayderman.

    Also Moonlight Sonata.

Merry Go Round of Life...it's an orchestra and the composer/conductor, Joe Hisaishi, goes off and plays some piano while his orchestra is playing. Truely amazing and epic....can really set some mixed emotions in you.

This song is also known as Howl's Moving Castle Main Theme.

I will always be a HUGE fan of the Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven. I also REALLY enjoy Mozart's Lacrimosa Requiem - when it is played with piano.

Chopin's Prelude in E Minor, Op.28, #4. If you're not familiar with it, you can listen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ngExbgyV7hk

I agree with Hello World that the second movement of Beethoven's Pathetique is also quite poignant.

  • I like the Theme from Love Story - played really slowly with passion. Gives me chills each time I play it!

Of course, turn the lights off and play in a candlelit room. Even better!

This question made me think of the second movement of Beethoven's "Pathetique" piano sonata....which I have always loved.

The first movement of his "Moonlight" sonata is another one that springs to mind. I also love this Etude by Chopin:
