Sikhs are required to always wear the "5 ks", to remind themselves of their spiritual commitment, these are:

    Kesh

    Kara

    Kanga

    Kacha

    Kirpan

Kirpan is the religious requirement to carry a small sword, reminding sikh men of their martial duty. In practice, most sikhs carry a small symbolic dagger.

    Can you be more specific.

As recent as 50 years ago almost everyone still carried a knife with them everywhere.

Quality knives and swords are still consider important gifts to estates and museums, and even countries. There is a tradition that a knife receiver should always give the giver a penny of "payment" so that the knife does not represent the "severing" of friendship.

Knife and sword exchanges are very important to Keltic cultures, especially the Scottish and Irish.

Many Pagans are supposed to have knives for their rituals.

Many Asian cultures and religions have complex rituals related to blades.

I have lived in Turkey, most Turkish men carried a knife. They are Islamic, but I do not know if this is a religious requirement for them (I doubt it) I can tell you that is lawful for a Turkish man to stab someone in the buttocks to repay an insult however., Strange

Edit: The Turks in question were Sikhs now that I think of it, a form of Islam. Guess it was a religious think after all

Source(s): was in Turkey, and I liked it, because I never got stabbed
