population ecology - biology grade 12?

hello, I am trying to solve the following problem with no luck and I would really appreciate some help

In an attempt to save a rate endangered species, a number of zoos agree to begin a breeding program. A single pair of endangered species is expected to successfully rear an average of nine offspring per year, all of which survive to maturity(i.e. 4.5 per parent per generation). Use the appropriate equation to calculate the number of individuals in the population after eight years.

answer at the back of the book:336 000(might be wrong)

thank you very much for any help!
