I bought the PSP Starter Kit at Wal-Mart and...?

And all i need is a power cord and the closes one was 45 miles away.

So i bought the starter kit.

Does the USB cord not charge it?

The guy told me the car-charger would work. But blah.

If you have one of the newer PSP models (PSP-2000 or PSP-3000), then you can charge it via the USB port like many other modern gadgets (Cellphones, DigiCams, etc.).

However, I believe you have to first turn it on via the Settings menu.

If you have one of the older models (a PSP "Phat", for PSP-1000), then you cannot charge via the USB. However, if you bought a new PSP at Wal-Mart, then it will most likely be 3000 as both 1000 and 2000 have already been discontinued.

the usb cord does not supply power and only transfers media to you psp the best thing is to get wireless internet on it and download your media straight on to it.

yes it will charge your psp if you plug it in to a computer or your PS3, you have to go to the settings on the psp and cut the charging mode on while in usb mode.
