Is this further evidence that the US admit that Israel posses illegal atomic weapons?

when Obama agreed to maintain the "don't ask, don't tell policy according to the Washington Times

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2009/oct/02/pr...

Update:

So why are they now making such an issue over Iran who have even invited UN inspectors in to view their sites . Something that Israel have refused to comply with ever

http://english.aljazeera.net/news/middleeast/2009/...

Update 2:

Do we in fact have 2 sets of rules 1 for Israel and another for Iran ? and now the US even want Israels war crimes outlined by UN own inspectors put off until next March Another case of the American veto on Israel ?

Update 3:

Tarheel 1 Yes I have studied Israels track record or 60 years and its not good reading. Compared to Israel, Iran are saints Who have Iran attacked in living memory now look at Israel who have a catalogue of them.

Update 4:

Update 5:

Roken Yes you are dead right it was the French that helped Israel build its plants but America were well aware of this so must take some of the blame.

Update 6:

Mike B You will note that all my remarks are aimed at the Israelis. I have never generalised by using the word Jews as most Jews in other countries are law abiding decent people

Netanyahu has refused to open up Israel's atomic sites to IAEA inspections. The IAEA, which met in Vienna on September 18, adopted a resolution expressing concern about "Israeli nuclear capabilities" and called on agency chief Mohamed ElBaradei to work on the issue. The motion was adopted by 49 votes to 45, with 16 abstentions. Russia and China, both permanent members of the UN security council, voted in favour. The United States and the European Union initially tried to block the vote, and then voted against it. David Danieli, deputy director of Israel's atomic energy commission, said: "Israel will not co-operate in any matter with this resolution."

So presumably we are going to bomb and blockade Israel then? Since Iran is getting threatened with all sorts just for having a non-weapons nuclear programme, surely a nation that refuses to sign the NNPT and refuses access to inspectors should be bullied by the World Policeman in an even more aggressive way?

Anyone who thinks that Israel acts in self defence is both deluded and laughably ignorant

Actually, Iran invited UN inspectors to one specific site - the one where the building is not complete, and no equipment is placed.

We have one set of rules. And that set of rules, among other things, contains that stating that your neighbor should be wiped out is bound to make the rest of the world extremely suspicious of you.

    EDIT:

Roken, as far as I understand, Israeli performed a test in the water, not on land (although yeah, South Africa was extremely involved).

If you want truth about Israel's nuclear capabilities, have the UN start with France, after all, they supplied Israel with the heavy water which the French procured from Norway under an agreement that the French would not give it to a third country, and France also supplied the Uranium for the reactor that the French helped build.

Hmmmm! Didn't the French also supply the Iraqis with nuclear technology?

South Africa, one of the original supporting members of the UN, supplied the desert for the Israeli test.

Any questions the UN has about Israel's nuclear weapons program should start with a permanent member of the UN Security Council, FRANCE, who refused to sign nuclear non-proliferation agreements. The French exported nuclear weapons technology for profit and were not concerned about Mideast countries having nuclear weapons whether they were Jews or Arabs.

It's not up to the US to admit anything about Israel's nuclear weapons.

We had nothing to do with it, and are not responsible for it.

It is estimated that Israel has anywhere from a minimum of 100 weapons to a maximum of 200 weapons. How do you propose to take those weapons away from a country that was given the technololgy to breed nuclear weapons by a permanent member of the UN Security Council. The Israeli reactor went on line in 1964.

This is NO SECRET and has not been since the 60's!!!!!

    Ask the FRENCH to apologize!

Since the NPT entered into force in 1970, three states that were not parties to the Treaty have conducted nuclear tests, namely India, Pakistan, and North Korea. North Korea had been a party to the NPT but withdrew in 2003. Israel is also widely believed to have nuclear weapons, though it has refused to confirm or deny this.[1] The status of these nations is not formally recognized by international bodies as none of them are currently parties to the NPT. South Africa has the unique status of a nation which developed nuclear weapons but has since disassembled its arsenal before joining the NPT.

Should we apologize for these counties too, and why aren't you having a problem with their possesion of nuclear weapons which came a very long time after Israel's.

    EDIT

"Some type of non-nuclear test, perhaps a zero yield or implosion test, occurred on 2 November 1966 [possibly at Al-Naqab in the Negev, Israel]. There is no evidence that Israel has ever carried out a nuclear test, although many observers speculated that a suspected nuclear explosion in the southern Indian Ocean in 1979 was a joint South African-Israeli test."

THANX: I apologize for comingling the two events!

Michael: The WORLD has known this since the 60's! Why are you putting the total responisblity on the US? And, you don't seem to be bothered by Pakistan, India and Korea own aquiring of nuclear weapons, Australia's on again off again attempts to sell uranium to India.

And the biggest double standard of all: Nations that have nuclear weapons insist on other nations not aquiring nuclear weapons to maintain their power hold on the world. Includes the Permanent Members of the Security Council. US, Russia, Britain, France and China! This is not a balance of power but a nuclear monopoly, sanctioned by who, the permanent members of the security council!

Oh yes, positively. Israel possesses a vast arsenal of super weapons. Fact, she has gifted scientists working on superior particle beam weaponry right now.

Reality bites, let's face it. It's is a good thing that the Israelis have this superior arsenal of nuclear weapons. make no mistake about it. they are going to need many more, if the Jewish people are going to survive one quarter into this new millennium (2025) Look what surrounds them, religious madman and psychopathic rulers that loudly threaten her constantly with certain annihilation.

fortunately, that will never happen again. No, for she has learned a valuable lesson from the Nazi past.

and I can say with 100% certainty that the people of Israel will never go silently into the night like those dumb mindless sheep, who are easily led to the slaughter.

they have twin citizenship (that's B.S.!) and characteristic many politicians of their gold and Palestinian blood coated wallet!! From 2009 to 2018, united statesa. is scheduled to grant Israel--the main important recipient of U.S. information--$30 billion in militia help. by way of its unlawful 40 4-300 and sixty 5 days militia occupation of the Palestinian West financial corporation, East Jerusalem, and Gaza Strip, Israel misuses U.S. weapons in violation of U.S. regulation to kill and injure Palestinian civilians, injury Palestinian civilian infrastructure, blockade the Gaza Strip, and build unlawful settlements in West financial corporation and East Jerusalem. it is basically in militia help to not point out the Billions given each 300 and sixty 5 days for shlts and giggles !

Well I would say even if Israel did, it's not as big of a deal as Iran having them. If you look at Israel's track record, they aren't the type to just go and start sending nukes to random countries. They would only do it in the interest of protecting their nation and their people. Iran on the other hand...well I mean look at their leader. He is a delusional, crazy, psycho. So of Israel has them, good for them, they should have them and maybe that will make Iran and any other Muslim nation that wants to attack Israel think twice.

    @ Tarheel

Iran hasn't invaded another nation in more than 2000 years...

When was the last time Israel went on an offensive? Oh right January.

Seems so. The Israeli's have gotten away with too much over the years. Iran needs Nuclear Technology to prevent it becoming another Iraq. And seems to be complying to an extent. Ahmadinijad may have a few slates missing, but he knows if he launches an attack, he's had it. I think they have a right to have Nuclear capability while all others have it. The bottom line is, He is only protecting his own interests.
