How do you get rid of Linux grub files on your hard drive?

without destroying the Vista boot files and make it a single boot (Vista) again

    If you mean remove grub from the master boot record check this tutorial from microsoft.

    in the experience that your bootable cd won't boot bit does artwork in yet another pc and you are able to no longer mount those cds from ubuntu i might suspect a failing optical force. a clean optical force isn't very costly and you may even get an exterior optical force in case you do no longer opt to interchange the indoors force. stable success
