Mark is paid a graduated commission. He is paid 5% of the first $4000 pf sales, 6% of the next $6000 and 10% on any further sales. Last month his total sales amounted to $13520. What's his gross income for the month?
Update:

so further sales = 13520 - (4000+6000)
=3520
So income = (0.05)(4000)+(0.06)(6000)+(0.1)(3520)
=200+360+352
=912
you were correct
mustafa, is not right as he made 3520, 3250 easy mistake to make on a computer!

5% of the $4000 is = $200
6% of the $6000 is = $360
Now he earned $13520, so you have to remove the first $4000 and the second $6000.
He now remains with $3250
so, 10% os $3250 = $325
Mark's total income is the addition of all = $885
