50,000 calories? That is the equivalent of running 500 miles on-end... just about 20 Marathons in a row, and not to mention the rate at which calories would have to be consumed is ridiculous.
Is it seriously 50,000 calories? Cite your source! You must've gotten that from somewhere. I'm curious.
I think 9,000 calories is about right... about 4 days worth of food... yeah that sounds better than 50,000.
----> @ Invisible Registered Nurse: No, apparently I haven't experienced contractions hours on end because apparently, I don't have a vagina or a uterus or all of those primary sex organs of a female. Apparently. Nice obervation, based on appearance! Congrats to the people who developed the Yahoo avatars - they do a great job of making a distinction between male and female. Oh, and apparently you've confused the phrase "I'm curious" with "I've experienced it and that isn't right."
And @ Poppy: yeah I'd have to agree with you on that, it makes sense (though I've never personally experienced it...). Afterall, a person can run more races in a lifetime than she could have children.
Anyway, hey 50K calories is a lot. I've run a few 26 mile marathons, a 100 kilo, and a 100 mile ultramarathon but I guess I haven't yet experienced what it's like to expend 50K calories in one session/feat/experience, I guess you could say. I'll now make it a goal of mine to run a 500 mile ultra before I ask my future wife (whoever that may be) to have a child.
