How should I read David Mitchell's "Cloud Atlas"?

I recently picked up David Mitchell's "Cloud Atlas" and I noticed that it's made up of a bunch of different stories collected together. The thing is, each story is split down the middle and picked up at a later point in the book. So my question to the people who have read the book is: how should I read it? Should I read all the different parts of one story before going on to the next one or should I just read the whole book in the order it's written so as to maintain the literary effect the author intended?
