I have a poem that needs to be yours, too. Will you collaborate? Add a few lines, or a stanza?

Sixteen stars came out of the western sky like broken bits of glass.

In between were little magnets, holding heaven together.

Cruising comets whipped their tendriled tails as they passed

and went on about their elliptical journeys, now and into forever

And on the surface of the earth, a tsunami of magma rose,

roiling like an angry mob come to burn the witch;

left behind its ebbtide were bubbling spring-flows

and ashes blocked the sunlight turning noontime into pitch.

The man atop the mountain raised the avalanche alarm,

became a stone and rolled down in a landslide wreathed in dust.

Guardian angels led by Gabriel carried innocents safe from harm,

and shook their heads at scraps that read, "In God We Trust."

The lands were shifted violently and glaciers became floods,

while salted oceans of poison and trash dried up and were forgotten.

The heavenly travelers laid down their burdens in the sapling trees and buds,

on nests of moss and silky soft white balls of cotton.

Between Lovechild’s great mind and those of our earth is a middle course,

A middle point hence let the bridge be cast from our side halfway

Within her mind’s a mystery of intersecting unplumbed force

She reads the mind of sun and moon and those which conduct seasons' ways

and operations of the stars and worlds, their death and their return.

That we might be bipeds or some such, intelligence or instinct

Invisible to seen, from atom to a star, they grow and burn

What hidden romance keeps her pen filled up with heaven's wondrous ink?

Sixteen stars came out of the western sky like broken bits of glass.

-the cat broke a mirror off the living room bookcase

In between were little magnets, holding heaven together.

-the backs of mirrors always look like magnets to me

Cruising comets whipped their tendriled tails as they passed

-track lights reflected in the shards of mirrored stars

and went on about their elliptical journeys, now and into forever

-and fade as I bend to pick up the pieces of glass

And on the surface of the earth, a tsunami of magma rose,

-I prikked my finger on a mirrored shard

    roiling like an angry mob come to burn the witch;

-blood flowing from the ground of my skin

left behind its ebbtide were bubbling spring-flows

-cooled by the salve of my mouth covering it

and ashes blocked the sunlight turning noontime into pitch.

-the blood turns pitch on the silvery mirror backs

The man atop the mountain raised the avalanche alarm,

-I rush to grab it before it stains the carpet

became a stone and rolled down in a landslide wreathed in dust.

-I fell and almost landed hard upon the cat.

Guardian angels led by Gabriel carried innocents safe from harm,

-I lift puss up and gently place her out the door

and shook their heads at scraps that read, "In God We Trust."

-She mews and says "I know you don't really mean bad."

The lands were shifted violently and glaciers became floods,

-I wanted to rage at that little vixen all-forgiving tone

while salted oceans of poison and trash dried up and were forgotten.

    - How dare she break a mirror and then forgive me???

The heavenly travelers laid down their burdens in the sapling trees and buds,

    - I licked my wound all the way to the bathroom cupboard,

on nests of moss and silky soft white balls of cotton.

-and wrapped my bleeding finger in wads of cotton.

That was wonderful, and so full of imagery it was like watching a vulcanology program on the National Geographic Channel or Science Channel.

And "The man atop the mountain" reminded me of the mythological Atlas standing atop the world, holding up the sky. (some pictures show him holding the world on his shoulders, but that is not the image I saw)

Great work! I would love to see more.

.........soon it was time for the winged monkeys to fly in.

they wore the famed bell-hop outfits, as seen in the Wizard of Oz

but they had banjos strapped around their hairy little necks, some had

accordians; and when they landed, they all lined up, more than 144 of them,

to play a fabulous medley that included Rhapsody in Blue,

Oh Susanna, We're Off To See the Wizard, Riders on the Storm,

and Landslide (the Dixie Chicks version)....then, free peppermint stick ice cream

was served to everyone who wanted any, and John Lennon appeared in a long

white coat with little flecks of magma here and there and he began singing "Imagine"

but not in English....no, he was using a Southern snake-handlers "Tongues" dialect!!

Source(s): I was there! I saw it all. Keith Olbermann was standing there with me!! Go ask him, if you think I'm making it up! [ALSO, I am sorry if this does not qualify as poetry--I did not have time to poetize it.] Fondly, Terry

And God created Earth and said that it was good

But in the hand of Fallen Man came Earth's early death

For too much of humanity has lived not as it should

So polluted, poison Earth and Sea to children do bequeath

(Didn't count the syllables, soooo change if ya want it.

I think we are tiring of seeing such awful things on the news and in our surroundings.

  • In the beginning... God created

then ... man created yahoo answers

we came, we wrote poems, we wrote pants

we wrote whatever we wanted .. we laughed and we cried

we grew close, divided, chided and warned as we

moved round got burned... was spurned yet a climbed back

up hills that were rough, laying my psyche out in the buff...

.. ya hear what I'm sayin'? I came here a playin' around with you others

my sisters and brothers became what we are, what will happen when then

Yahoo closes down, shuts her doors ... kicks us all out?

Music makes the mountains move; the grass grows greener when you groove. The world whirls like a top, so dance on, dreamer, 'til you drop. But whispers make fine hair stand tall; a checkered blanket where I fall. Your words are music to my ears, and dancing feet can have no fears. :)

They snuggled in their cozy cocoons, content at first just to breathe in the spring air and inhale the beauty of their new found untouched paradise.

They reveled amidst the juicy globes of crimson fleshed fruits and coconut scented flowers as they marveled at the majesty of nature and its abundance!

But further exploration brought them naught....and naught....and naught.....until they came upon the Laser Light Library.............

There they met the lovely "Laurendar of Perth" and she wove the tales of the past, present and future....as they listened, spellbound......

This is so beautiful that to think I would do it justice would be playing the fool. I love how you play nature, juxtaposing its gentleness and cruelty and intermarrying all this with angels and a higher power. You da bomb, girl.
