    I am from Medicine Hat, Alberta. the major rodeos that we all go to are Calgary Stampede, Medicine Hat Stampede, and Patricia rodeo. In most places in alberta you are never more then a town or two away from a place that has a rodeo. ALSO some place have their local rodeos (where pro's and amateurs compete) and Pro rodeos such as Calgary Stampede, Ranglend Derby, Half Mile Of Hell, CFR, etc.

    The granddaddy of all rodeos is the Calgary Stampede - but there are also rodeos at Williams Lake and Smithers, at Chilliwack and I'm sure there are others in Alberta as well.

    Athletes I'm not too sure on, but Terri Clark the country singer is from Medicine Hat and Paul Brandt is from around Calgary. Wayne Gretzky maybe???
