Why is the book Go Ask Alice titled as such?

I would have thought that Alice would be a bigger part of the story in someway, but only a page or so was spent on her...

The title is from the song "White Rabbit" by Jefferson Airplane. The song was written in reference to the perceived drug use in the book Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Alice is mentioned in the novel as another addict, but this isn't the Alice the title is referring to.

    "When men on the chessboard

Get up and tell you where to go

And you've just had some kind of mushroom

And your mind is moving low

    Go ask Alice

    I think she'll know."
