In response to the Yorkshire Pudding recipe question.....?

I understand that it is made with the beef drippings (fat and beef flavor) - but has anyone ever made one with a different type of protein? Such as, chicken, pork, etc. - would this work? Would it taste good?

Beef dripping is traditional. I have made it using vegetable oil in place of the beef dripping which works fine, though the puddings have less flavour. You could use melted lard but I think pork dripping might be too strong a flavour. As for chicken, it will depend on how much fat you can get from the chicken. The batter needs to go into hot, melted fat that does not contain meat juice.

It would proabably taste fine however the traditional ones are made with the drippings from roast beef. Pork or chicken fat would work.
