i need to solve a math qustion?

2xsquared - 4x -1=0 by comlpling the square

    ax²-bx+c = a(x-h)²+k; where h= -b/(2a), k= c- (b²/(4a))

    2x²-4x-1=0

    therefore,

    2x²-4x-1= 2(x-1)²-3
