Is Resilience in WoW just for PvP?

I have a guildie hunter that has gotten his gear up for heroics by equipping a bunch of resilience gear. I told him that he will be pretty inefficient in heroics, and that his dps will suffer greatly(which is our role). Should he find other Agility, Stam, Crit, Mastery buffed gear, or should he be alright running Heroics in Cataclysm?

It depends on what his gear was before. Sometimes the gear with a lot of resilience will be an increase to attack power or crit as well. In some battleground groups, it may be quicker to get honor than to look for drops from regular dungeons or grind them for rep.

Edit: As for the resilience stat itself, it may also help with general damage taken reduction, but for a hunter in a group that's not very useful. Remember though, he may be able to get more DPS from the other stat increases on the resilience gear that do increase DPS.

Its is pvp only. After patch 4.0.1, it no longer reduces the chance to receive a critical strike, making it completely useless in pve. It used to be ok only for a tank upgrading a slot to a pvp reward because it was clearly better than what they had, and as only a temporary fix until they got a pve piece of gear for that slot.

Currently resilience now only reduces player attacks and mana drain effects for pvp.
