All I can say is HOLY COW! What a gigantic list of awesmoe events! I was 5 years old an beginning to really get into rock n roll. My mom would put her albums on and I'd sit on the sofa and rock back n forth for literally HOURS listening to music. I must have been born to rock cause it was already part of my soul. I'll bet I was rockin' in the womb. lol
I noticed Eric Claptons band Deric n the Dominoes had a release on my birthday,Jan 8th. WOO HOO!! Tom Fogerty was surely missed in CCR. What a great band. So many great songs by CCR.
I remember getting my 1st Abba album,The Who album, and so many more for Christmas. I know I was only 5 but I have always been told by my parents all I ever wanted was music for gifts. I had such a collection when I was married at 18 that it stretched from one entire wall end to end in our living room. And it was decent sized, not small. When I liked a group I HAD to have EVERYTHING by them!
I remember hearing Johnny Cash,Loretta Lynn,Ann Murray, and my favorite by Tammy Wynette: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZr0_ic1304
The ban on music supposedly promoting drugs was ridiculous. Definitely not happening nowdays. And hasn't been for a LONG time. One of my favs is "Cocaine". Don't do it but love the classic.
"Me & Bobby Magee"...great tune by one of my favs too.
Pink Floyd,David Bowie,Grateful dead---all favorites of mine.
The Doors,Bob Dylan,Black Sabbath---all YES!!
And Deep Purples "Smoke On The Water". Who could NOT like that tune?
Now to rank these ......
My order would be
1. Stairway To Heaven
2.American Pie
3.Won't Get Fooled Again
4.Brown Sugar
5.Imagine
6.What's Goin On
7.Let's Stay Together
8.Maggie May
9.Just My Immagination
10.Family Affair
What a trip!
Thanks for the ride!!!
