Are the French hypocrites for telling the US to not invade Iraq when they had troops in the Ivory Coast?

Aren't the French such hypocrites to have questioned the US's integrity of their invasion of Iraq when they put troops in the Ivory Coast to try to help rebels fight against the government! Go ahead and keep thinking the French are the peaceful humanists they proclaim to be. They'll do business with Saddam Hussein, yet not Laurent Gbagbo. It sounds a bit like Vietnam if you ask me. The French could have prevented the whole Vietnam war if they weren't so stubbornly protective of a territory they'd inevitably lose. They should have been greatful the Americans saved them from the Nazis! They knew we wouldn't attack them being an ally directly after WWII. So they turned to the Soviets which is what led to us trying to clean up mess they created.

What gave the French any more right to intervene in Ivorian affairs than Americans in Iraq? Do you think it really gets to the French that the Ivorians don't even take them seriously? Now if the US wanted to enforce policy on this country, they'd listen. They know we have the most powerful military in the world and utilize it often! There wouldn't even be an incentive for us though.

Update:

Yes, I know what the Ivory Coast is.

Update 2:

Yes, I know what the Ivory Coast is. In regards to the Falklands war, that shouldn't even be considered a war. What a waste of 1,000 combined Argentine and British soldiers lives. The Argentines are the ones to blame for starting a war. Yet the British are stupid for just not giving up the territory. They have like 3,000 people! Who freaking cares. They lost more money on the territory than probably the whole GDP and net worth of the island.

Update 3:

Mr. Smartypants - We're not trying to control all the oil. We don't own it. They do. You can make an argument that we put in leaders that'd be easier to trade with. But we haven't stolen their resources.

Update 4:

J M - The US only has so much man power. I wish we could have gotten to the injustices caused by Kim Jung Il and Robert Mugabe too. But those countries don't exactly have terrorists that are particularly threatening to us. The reason we're in Afghanistan and Iraq is to contain our national security. Especially Afghanistan. The fact is Saddam Hussein was a tyrant that everyone is happy to see dead today. Does the US get a thank you for that from most people though? No. Regardless of how you want to look at it, everyone knows Hussein would still be alive and in power there today (or someone from his family). The UN is a useless organization in military matters. It's a talking room. They wouldn't do a thing. The British wouldn't have either unless it was to play # 2 to the US.

Update 5:

J M - And who stopped an enlarging massacre in Bosnia back in the mid-1990s? Not even a European country could stop a problem going on in it's own continent! The Yanks had to save them again. We are in Somalia, Haiti and a bunch of other countries too.

Update 6:

The Ivory Coast is it's own country. They are citizens of their own country. They are only citizens of France if they move to that country. You know what would really be icing on the cake to get at the French? When the French language rapidly declines there and is taken over by English!

Update 7:

Mikel - There also seems to be one of your Frenchmen who can speak English and end up on English speaking Yahoo. Too bad it isn't as easy to find a Frenchmen's English skills while in France.

''We had the support of the UN for our operations in Ivory Coast, and it wasn't a full-scale invasion like that of the "Coalition of the lapdogs of the US" in Iraq.''

You're moving away from the point I'm making. I'm saying what gave you the right to invade there period? It isn't like Americans are calling out the French on this either. Yet you call out the US for invading Iraq? And than boast about it years later like you were so wise? The British now wish they were you which is why they are so secretly jealous.

Update 8:

''They take us very seriously, as anyone who isn't an ignorant American redneck.''

Oh, wow. A Frenchmen that actually knows what the word redneck means! Why should anyone take the French seriously? Your military was weak and barely even responded when your peacekeepers were attacked there. And why are you seeking so much self-importance from the rest of the world? You're a country 1/5 the size of us. Of course we're a more recognizable power than you. They don't take you seriously. And it isn't your business to be down there. Not for anything out of peacekeeping.

Update 9:

Mikel - Once again, why do you care that anyone takes France seriously? As I said before, they really don't care what the French think. If the Ivorians started slaughtering your weak soldiers, the French would pull out. I'll admit the French have learned in modern times to get out of something before the problem gets out of hand. But it doesn't make them strong. They have a reputation for being cowards who run away for a reason.

The French's legacy is centuries old. Their global reign is about as outdated as the Spanish now. They can't accept their language is like a finger nail compared to a hand like the British. They have no sense of reality. Even their former colonies like the Vietnamese speak English more now.

Update 10:

Mikel - Once again, why do you care that anyone takes France seriously? As I said before, they really don't care what the French think. If the Ivorians started slaughtering your weak soldiers, the French would pull out. I'll admit the French have learned in modern times to get out of something before the problem gets out of hand. But it doesn't make them strong. They have a reputation for being cowards who run away for a reason.

Yes, you make a good point. (Not to mention Algeria).

But the US has no interests in Ivory Coast, so we don't care about the French intervention there. The French do have interests in the Middle East, in fact most of the oil in the world comes from the Middle East these days. That's what the Iraq War is about, the US trying to control all the oil. Which could turn out bad for France and much of the rest of the world. So the French have a right to protest selfish US foreign policy.

We had the support of the UN for our operations in Ivory Coast, and it wasn't a full-scale invasion like that of the "Coalition of the lapdogs of the US" in Iraq.

Plus, the reason our government didn't follow Bush in his crusade in Iraq was that he tried to bully us and that we learned our lesson from the Algerian war. We tried to teach it to you (though we thought after Vietnam you would have learned it already) but Bush wouldn't listen a "cheese eating surrender monkey" who fought as a voluntary in the Algerian War, from a nation like France which obviously has zero experience in world affairs ! (sarcasm)

"Do you think it really gets to the French that the Ivorians don't even take them seriously?"

They take us very seriously, as anyone who isn't an ignorant American redneck.

There is a lot of nonsense in your question, but I don't feel like writing a novel...

Anyway, is the French government hypocrite ? Of course, just like the American government, the British government, the Russian government, the Chinese government etc....

    "†USA† Greatest Civilization Ever"...........lol

    Barn Owl:

"The French are hypocrites, period. They were complete morons for selling Exocet missiles to the Argentinians during the Falklands war."

We didn't sell Exocet missiles during the Falklands war. We were selling them to Argentina before the war started and stopped doing so when the war began, unfortunately we had no right to take back the ones the Argentinians had already bought.

EDIT: "Why should anyone take the French seriously?" Because France is one of the most powerful countries in the world ? Being weaker than the US doesn't mean we are weak, or that we should just shut up and become a lapdog of the US government.

EDIT2: "They have a reputation for being cowards who run away for a reason."

AH AH AH how ignorant ! Except heavily ignorant Americans (you known, the ones who can barely locate the US on a world map), who believes the French are cowards? You like your Freedom Fries, huh ?

    AH AH AH AH

All our allies wanted to hold off on the invasion until the UN had exhausted its efforts, not just the French.

Isn't the US a hypocrite for claiming that it was "necessary" to go into Iraq to save the peoplewhile large scale massacres were taking place in Somalia and Africa.

France has had involvement in the Ivory coast since the 1600's. Citizens of the Ivory coast are granted French citizenship. Much like Alaska and Hawii were before we made them states.

Do you know what the Ivory Coast is?

Maybe - they will take every opportunity they can to make life difficult for us since Eisenhower wouldn't bail them out in Vietnam.
