State the amplitude, period, phase shift, and vertical translation for the function y+1= 3cos4(x-pi/4) from y=cosx. Please show your work

    Assume that the expression is:

    y + 1 = 3cos(4(x - π/4))

    Subtract both sides by 1 to get:

    y = 3cos(4(x - π/4)) - 1

    Hence, the amplitude is 3, the period is 2π/4 = π/2, the phase shift is |(π/4)/4| = π/16, and the vertical translation is 1 unit below
