Physics question? how deep is water?

Sound moves in steel at 5500 m/s and in salt water at 1430 m/s. A diver hits a rock on a steel cable and observes a 1 second delay between return time for the sounds traveling in the cable and the water itself. How deep is the water?

Please help me. Thanks in advance.

    Assume, the deep of the water = X

    ----> the distance covered the wave sound ( in the steel) : X = V *t ------> X = 5500 * t

    ----> the distance covered the wave sound ( in the water) : X = V *t ------> X =1430 * ( t + 1)

    5500 * t = 1430 * ( t + 1)

    550 t = 143 t + 143

    ( 550 - 143) t = 143

    t = 143/407 = 0.35 sec

    ---> The deep of the water : X = V * t = 5500 * 0.35 = 1925 m

    Could you tell us where is the location of the diver? Is he at the steel cable or on the water surface?
