What are Farm Lobbies and how do they contribute to increased poverty in the global south?

If you could answer even the first half of the question (defining Farm Lobby) that would be helpful. Thanks so much!

    The farm lobby is a special interest group that argues the interests of farms in front of the government.

    Farm lobbies get the government to give them large agriculture subsidies. As a result they can sell their crops for a price that third world countries cannot compete with. Since agricultural products are one of the few things that these developing nations can sell in a global market this is devastating to their economies, resulting in widespread unemployment and civil unrest.
