Is there a special law for farm animals?

If you have ever watched the movie food inc you would have seen some of the horrible conditions farm animals are living in, i am not a crazy animal lover but i do think they should have better living conditions, it is not only gross and unhealthy but said to see the animalls like that. Is there law that protects these farm animals from those conditions or is there not, if there isnt do you think there should be? explain...

    In the United States, the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) dictates what nature of sanitation animals must have if they or their products are going to enter the food chain.
