The NEC is 6 feet as Jim W said, and I would expect the CEC to be the same on that point, but don't know for sure.

Lefty, I'm surprised, your answers are generally fine, but the NEC is NOT adopted in all states, the NEC distance is 6, not 8 feet, and the NEC says nothing about receptacles relative to the swing of the door.

The National Electric code is adopted by all states. Receptacles must be within 8 feet of any location along any wall. Also they have a safety clause that would apply to a doorway. A receptacle should not be in a location where an open door could close against a receptacle.
