    What do you mean?

If you mean why we called Her Virgin Mary, then it's because the church believe that Mother Mary was pregnant by the blessing of Holy Spirit. And that makes Her was and always is a virgin.

And why do we pray to Her?

To answer that, first of all we do not pray to Mother Mary as if she was our god, no. But we simply pray for her as She is a very good Mother who'd kindly help Her children. If you read the bible about the miracle in Kana, where Jesus changed the water into the wine as a favor for His Mother, then that's the basic that church used to believe that it is important to pray through Maria. It's not for Her to grant your wishes, but to ask for Her help to pass your prayer to Jesus. You know just like in Kana.

And fyi, Mother Mary happened to appear to several blessed people, asking us to repent from our sins, as well as pray to Her too, for Her to help us pass our prayer to God.

And here is the link that shows the fact that Mother Mary in fact appeared to some blessed people. The question is, Will you believe in Her too?

That was not the way Mary moved beyond virginity . . .

After she gave birth to Jesus, she had normal marital

    relations with her HUSBAND Joseph.

    Matthew 1:18 :~

"Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows:

After his mother Mary was betrothed (engaged) to Joseph,

before they came together (had sexual relations) she was

found with child of the Holy Spirit.."

NOTE: "before they came together" <--- "came" = PAST TENSE

because this book of Matthew was written AFTER it happened.

Mary and Joseph had a normal sexual relationship in marriage.

    Matthew 1:20 :~

"Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife.."

    Matthew 1:24 :~

"... Joseph... took to him his wife"

    Matthew1:25 :~

"and did not know her till she had brought forth her first-born son..."

NOTE: ".. TILL she had brought forth... " tells us Joseph "knew" her..

(had sexual relations with his wife) AFTER she gave birth to Jesus.

NOTE: ".. her FIRST-BORN son.." tells us Jesus was her first-born of

OTHER children - she and Joseph had several more children normally.

One half-brother of Jesus was the Apostle James. (Galatians 1:19)

The other brothers and sisters are mentioned in Matthew 13:54-56,

in Mark 6:3 and Acts 1:14.
