    6 = 1-2n+5

    6 = 6-2n

    6-6 = -2n

    0 = -2n

    0/-2 = n

    0 = n

    Check:

    6 = 1-2(0)+5

    6 = 1-0+5

    6 = 1+5

    6 = 6 Correct

    => 6-5 = 1 - 2n + 5 - 5

    => 1 = 1 - 2n

    => 1 -1 = 1 - 1 -2n

    => 0 = 2n

    (=> they're wasting your time!!).... but don't quote this line

    => 0 / 2 = n

    So n= 0

    congrats

    6-5-1= -2n (subtract the 1 and the 5 since they are positive)

    0/-2=n

    0=n

    And Paige C.... it helps if you put your answer back in to the original equation to make sure you did it right. if n is 6 then 1-2(6)+5=1-17=-16

    and the same to the person below me... if n is 1 then 1-2(1)+5 = 1-7=-6 not positive

    Subtract 5 from both sides making the 6 a 1 and the 5 dissaper. Then add one to both sides making the 1 dissaper and the 1 a 2. Then divide both sides by 2 making the 2 dissaper. Then 1=n

    -5-6=1-2n (subtract the 5 from both sides)

    -1-5-6=-2n(subtract 1 from both sides)

    -12-2n(simplify)

    -12/2 = 2n/2 (divide both sides by 2)

    -6 = n
