    * there is an unconventional definition of 'original' here = it was performed live in 1974 by Buckingham Nicks. Marilyn recorded it {with Stevie on backing vocals} for the 1984 film "Streets of Fire". Stevie herself didn't record it until 2001.

Blinded by using the mild ~ Manfred Mann's Earth Band {Bruce Springsteen} In A damaged Dream ~ Thunder {Python Lee Jackson} Morning Dew ~ Nazareth {Bonnie Dobson} With a touch help From My pals ~ Joe Cocker {The Beatles} All alongside the Watchtower ~ Jimi Hendrix {Bob Dylan} howdy Joe ~ Jimi Hendrix {?} {there's a fabulous conceal by using Robert Plant on his album 'Dreamtime'} Woodstock ~ Matthews Southern convenience {Joni Mitchell} Tainted Love ~ tender cellular {Gloria Jones} I extremely ought to disagree with the guy who reported a canopy of Fleetwood Mac's 'Landslide' became extra popular than the unique. Edit :~ Having regarded closer on different different solutions right here, i'm getting the feeling distinct them are from American song enthusiasts, as quite a few of the covers listed have in no way been vast right here contained in the united kingdom. as an get mutually, 'you truly were given Me' remains maximum popular as a Kinks song right here {although there's a very good conceal by using Robert Palmer}.

"You Really Got Me" - Van Halen playing a Kinks song.

"I Love Rock 'N Roll" - Joan Jett & the Blackhearts playing an Arrows song.

also, The Animals did not write "House of the Rising Sun."

I'm pretty sure The Eagles didn't write "Take it Easy," but I might be mistaken.

I'm not certain that CCR wrote their famous rendition of "Heard it Through the Grapevine."

the Guns 'N Roses version of "knocking on heaven's door" is arguably more famous than the original Bob Dylan version among certain demographic groups.

  • Marilyn Manson's Sweet Dreams which was a cover from Eurythmics and Alien Ant Farms' Smooth Criminal which was a cover from Michael Jackson

Almost every song by Elvis was a cover of a blues classic.

Many of Bob Dylan's lesser known songs were big hits for others.

Joan Jett covered 2 songs by Tommy James, "I love Rock & Roll" and "Crimson and Clover"

I can think of lots of them. Prince wrote alot of songs that were hits for others. the Hooters wrote Time after Time before Cyndia Lauper made it a hit

Bruce also had Blinded by the Light and For You before Manfred mann made them hits

because the night by 10,000 maniacs was bigger than Patti Smith's
