Report: Pastor killed in crash was drunk!

An area Baptist pastor who was killed in a vehicle wreck last month was driving drunk, a Lubbock police report released Wednesday shows.

The Rev. Samuel Ibarra, 43, of Wolfforth crashed his pickup into a light pole at about 1 a.m. Dec. 12 in the 6500 block of Spur 327, according to the police report. He died later that morning at University Medical Center.

Ibarra served most recently as pastor of Primera Iglesia Bautista in O'Donnell, according to Lubbock Area Baptist Association records, though officials said that was a few years ago.

He was driving a 1996 Ford Ranger west on Spur 327 when he ran a red light at Milwaukee Avenue and crashed into the pole, witnesses told police. The police report indicates Ibarra also failed to drive in a single lane.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, and Ibarra was the only occupant of his truck.

Recent toxicology results revealed Ibarra had more than two times the legal limit in his system at the time of the crash, the police report shows. His blood alcohol concentration was .211 percent, compared to the legal limit in Texas of .08.

Ibarra, ordained in 1987, had also served as pastor of a Mission of First Baptist Church in Plainview, Primera Iglesia Bautista in Ralls and a misson of First Baptist Church in Amherst, according to his obituary.

0.211? That's insanely drunk for a pastor to be lol. That's like 8 or 9 drinks. I guess he took the risks and unfortunately paid for it in a big way.

    Dear Friend,

The word Christian means, "Christ-like." Therefore, anyone who professes to be a Christian, demonstrates who they are in Christ by their...lifestyle. Like Christ.

He could have been stoning his wife, or throwing acid in her face.
