Of the largest of Ohio cities that begin with the letter "C" (Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati)---Columbus is far and away the best of them. The other two have a lot of crime and poverty compared to Columbus. It is very solidly middle-class with nice suburbs, the Ohio State University, the Columbus Zoo, and many other pluses. It may not have the old world character of the other two, but it makes up for that by being a stable city with a lot of promise.
Weatherwise, it does sit in flat country and is subject to a high incidence of tornadoes. It can get cold in the winter, with the temperatures going down into the 10s and 20s at times, but its hardly like Buffalo, New York that gets several feet of snow or Grand Forks, North Dakota that has temperatures that go below zero and stay there for weeks. Summers get moderately hot, but not sweltering like New Orleans.

I like Columbus. It's mostly good neighborhoods. Traffic may become a problem, but you'll get used to it. High schools are good. It tends to be on the colder side.Source(s): Lived in Cincinnati but been to Columbus A LOT.
