how does biuret reagent work to detect proteins?

i get that it turns purple. why? what does each ingredient do? thank!

    The peptide bonds in the secondary structure of proteins, which is a combination of amino acids. The biuret reagent (copper sulfate) then causes a colour change, of violet/pink
