The plain old .45 ball ammo does a remarkable job of stopping a threat. In my opinion Hornady is one of the best ammo companies out there. A .45 hollow point will be more than sufficient to stop a threat. The round you chose has limited expansion which is a desirable feature in a self protection round. Their top of the line round is the XTPSource(s): HAP http://www.hornady.com/store/HAP-Hornady-Action-Pi... The XTP expands to 1.5x its original size http://www.hornady.com/store/XTP-XTP-MAG/ Also consider Speer GoldDot http://www.speer-ammo.com/ballistics/detail.aspx?l... also http://www.winchester.com/Products/handgun-ammunit...

By all accounts, the .45 Auto is a one shot man stopper.

This system teaches how to react to thiefs at home or in the street http://www.goobypls.com/r/rd.asp?gid=563.
It's the best and simples self defence program I found on the internet.
