What is the largest U.S. city relative to its state's population?

    Looks like more than 40% of Alaskans live in Anchorage. That ought to be hard to beat. Anchorage has about 300,000 of Alaska's 722,000 (2011 est.)

    40% of people in New York State live in New York City. Judging by the outermetropoitan area of New York City which makes New York Cities population around 14 million. So basically 70-77% of New York State lives in New York City making its the largest US city relative to its state population.
