Will the ban on guns work as good as they did on drugs?

Because as soon as drugs were banned people stopped using them and it didn't create one single black market that resulted in a criminal empire.

Bans on guns will not nor will they ever work just as there was a ban on assault weapons and Columbine happened and Obama hasnt a clue what to do here anyway and if everyone did turnn in their guns, Obama would give them away like he and Holder did with the Fast and Furious guns into Mexico so theyll be used on Americans,. Obama talks big but really has no idea whats happening around him, like hes lost in space or still on drugs

Yes, because normal people are willing to buy drugs.

It's not the desperate addict that is the main customer of drugs. Certain drugs, such as heroin, yes... but most of the drug trade caters to relatively ordinary people. (You'd be surprised to find out how many of your fully-functional co-workers enjoy marijuana regularly, and some of them harder stuff occasionally.)

In countries where gun control is taken seriously, it works.

Fact is your co-worker who might be comfortable buying a couple of grams of weed from this kid he's been introduced to would probably balk at the very idea of meeting an illegal arms dealer.

illegal arms dealers are not the only option for firearms. They are the only option for certain types of firearms society generally thinks shouldn't be in just anybody's hands. I just don't know a lot of people who would be willing to meet an arms' dealer, just to get their hands on a cool gun. Unless you intend to do something specific with that gun, you probably don't want anything to do with arms dealers.

Also, once the drug is consumed, it's gone. You're back to being a respectable citizen. The illegal gun you bought is always there... again... I don't think Joe Average is comfortable with that.

    It is different.

Depends if they actually enforce it or not. The ban on drugs is obviously under enforced.

    Drugs should be legal.

But assault guns should be banned.

In countries where gun control is taken seriously, it works.

Pot's illegal and every third car in traffic has an ash tray crammed with it. People can't see that analogy to illegalizing guns; every time I try to use it, all I get is arguments about how pot is safer than guns. They can't make the connection in their brains that if illegal pot is that easy to come by, illegal guns will be as well.

There won't be a ban on guns. No one has even proposed such a thing.
