If we buy a digital converter box for our TV, can we watch TV with an antenna?

We own a Philips Indoor/Outdoor antenna, but Canada no longer has Over-the-air television since August 31, 2011. If we buy a digital converter box, would we be able to watch TV again? If not, would it work with a digital tuner?

The two answers that tell you you can't use an antenna in Canada are WRONG! The other answer may be correct, depending on your situation.

Canada does have digital OTA broadcasts. You can use an antenna. If your TV has a digital tuner, no converter box is needed. If your TV is old enough to not have a digital tuner, you will need a digital-to-analog converter box.

I'm not going to go to the trouble of searching for the information, but I would bet money that the Canadian equivalent to the US Federal Communications Commission has a website with all the information you need. Try an internet search.

NO. You need to have a cable or disc network provider for you to pickup tv programs. If they are not providing over the air tv program then there is nothing for you to pick up. The converter box is only to convert the signal from analog to digital. Hope this will help you out.
