Should I spray insect repellent on my clothes?
Or just exposed skin?

From the bottom of my heart, you should spray insect repellent on your clothes if it will keep it off your skin.I spray it on my hat all the time instead of my face and head.
Just don't spray it on silk and other delicate expensive fabrics.
My fave is Natrapel a citrus based totally safe product.I water it down 50 % and get a year or two from a 4.50 bottle.

Yes. When I was in the navy in Orlando one summer, the mosquitoes were relentless and would bite my ankles through my socks. I had to spray my socks with insect repellent to keep from being eaten alive.
