toaster used 5h per month. it draws 8.0A pf current from a 110v outlet, electricity coasts 8c per kw*h?

a) Calculate the amount of power the toaster uses. (5 marks)

b) Calculate the amount of energy that is used by the toaster per month in J, kJ and MJ. (Assume 30 days in a month). (5 marks)

c) Calculate the amount of energy that is used by the toaster per month in kW.h (5 marks)

d) *If electricity costs 8 cents per kW·h, what is the cost to operate the toaster for

i) 1 month? (assume 30 days in a month) ii) 1 year? (There are 365 days in 1 year) (4 marks)

    a) P=V*I=110V * 8A = 880W

    b, c) if the toaster was running continuously (?) then it would consume

    E=P*t= 880W * 30 day * (24h/day) = 633600 Wh = 633.6 kWh

    note, 1h=3600seconds

    E=P*t = 633600Wh * 3600 s/h = 2280960000J = 2280960 kJ = 2280.960 MJ

    d) 633.6kWh * 0.08 dollar/kWh = 50.688 dollars in month and $616.704 a year
