The Reason i'm contemplating on trading it in towards the PS4

I'm getting confused about this I went to System Settings>System Information.... and looked in my Free space and it say's 58GB/111GB...

You have a 120GB HDD. The reason you don't see 120 is because of the way HDD capacity is read. You will never see 120GBs free on a 120GB HDD. The same goes for any HDD. The other reason the number of GBs is smaller is because the OS takes up a certain amount of space on the drive.

If you're wondering how many Gigabytes your PS3 harddrive has, you said it yourself: 111GB. The 58GB is the unused space and the 53GB that is not free can most likely be deleted if you wipe your harddrive. I recommend doing this before trading it in.
