Hey Cons, why should marijuana be illegal?

Let works with more concrete facts why weed should not be legalized.
Cannabis was banned because people started using it as a drug to get them intoxicated and it made the users lazy and odd.
Societies saw how harmful other drugs were and lumped weed in with them. It has to do with the harm it does to others when people use weed. Its use is bad for social relationships, employment, and public safety,
Over the last 10 years we are beginning to learn about the effects of cannabis use on the human body..for most users (generally those that use for a long time) some of the effects are listed below:
Here are some of them, it is not a complete list, because Yahoo limits the length of answers:
What lung conditions is cannabis linked to? The report says that although cannabis is the world’s most widely used illicit drug, there is surprisingly little research into its effects on lung health, with far less about the effects of cannabis smoke than tobacco smoke. However, it says there is now research showing that the active component, THC, can suppress the immune system and that cannabis smokers may be at risk of: respiratory problems such as chronic coughing, wheezing, sputum production, acute bronchitis, airway obstruction infective lung conditions such as tuberculosis and Legionnaire’s disease pneumothorax (collapsed lung) lung cancer - one study, which was widely quoted in the papers, suggested that smoking just one cannabis cigarette a day for one year increases the risk of developing lung cancer by a similar amount to smoking 20 tobacco cigarettes for the same period. It concluded that 5% of lung cancers in those aged 55 or under may be caused by smoking cannabis. However, the report points out that there is a lack of conclusive evidence as to the possible effect that smoking cannabis has on lung function and the risk of developing chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). There is evidence that smoking cannabis with tobacco leads to a greater risk of COPD than smoking tobacco alone.

Marijuana smoke was listed as a cancer-causing agent by California on June 19, 2009
Britain's most senior coroner is warning that hundreds of young people are dying in accidents caused by their prolonged use of cannabis….The dangers of cannabis were highlighted in research published last month, which showed a sharp increase in drug-related deaths. According to the European Centre for Addiction Studies at St George's Hospital Medical School in London, in 2002, British coroners cited cannabis as the major cause of death in 18 out of 853 drug-related deaths. The drug was also implicated in a further 31 out of 1,579 deaths involving a cocktail of drugs. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1445718/Can...
Teens who routinely smoke marijuana risk a long-term drop in their IQ - http://news.yahoo.com/teen-pot-linked-later-declin...
“Pre-natal marijuana exposure had persistent negative effects through age 16 on higher-order thinking, including problem solving, memory, planning, impulsivity, and attention.”
Long-term heavy cannabis use in healthy individuals is associated with smaller cerebellar white-matter volume similar to that observed in schizophrenia. Reduced volumes were even more pronounced in patients with schizophrenia who use cannabis. Cannabis use may alter the course of brain maturational processes associated with schizophrenia. http://journals.cambridge.org/action/displayAbstra...
Our findings indicate long-term cannabis use is hazardous to the white matter of the developing brain. Delaying the age at which regular use begins may minimize the severity of microstructural impairment. - http://brain.oxfordjournals.org/content/135/7/2245...
Recent research from the past 5 years has shown that marijuana exposure during pregnancy has been associated with anencephaly, a non-sustaining life condition where a large part of the skull or brain is absent, neurobehavioral deficiencies, such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, learning disabilities and memory impairment in toddlers and 10 year olds, as well as neuropsychiatric conditions, including depression, aggression and anxiety, in teens. - http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2012/08/12081...Source(s): “Cannabis use during adolescence and young adulthood increases the risk of psychotic symptoms, while continued cannabis use may increase the risk for psychotic disorder in later life, concludes a new study published online in the British Medical Journal.” - http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2011/03/11030... According to President Obama it's to protect the children who could acquire it easier while it's on the black-market since drug dealers don't ID. It makes as much sense as making poison ivy illegal to save the kids from a rash. I say this because liberals use the tactic of keep your friends close but your enemies closer, in secret they are no different then Tricky Dicky the man who declared a war on drugs before being exposed by Deep Throat. Rumor is that LBJ with Tricky Dicky and the Bush's met the day before JFK was shot because JFK told the CIA to stop running drugs through black covert operations, gave a speech about sabateurs in secret socities, denied their request to use Operation Northwoods as an execuse to invade Cuba, had a planned agenda to slowly tell the American people aliens existed, etc....
"Obama is a Rockefeller Republican." - Bill Maher
The Rockefeller Drug Laws are the statutes dealing with the sale and possession of "narcotic" drugs in the New York State Penal Law. The laws are named after Nelson Rockefeller, who was the state's governor at the time the laws were adopted. Rockefeller, a staunch supporter of the bill containing the laws had Presidential ambitions and so wanted to raise his national posture by being "tough on crime." If this strategy worked, he would no longer be seen as too liberal to be elected. He signed it on May 8, 1973. Under the Rockefeller drug laws, the penalty for selling two ounces (57 g) or more of heroin, morphine, "raw or prepared opium," cocaine, or cannabis or possessing four ounces (113 g) or more of the same substances, was a minimum of 15 years to life in prison, and a maximum of 25 years to life in prison. The original legislation also mandated the same penalty for committing a violent crime while under the influence of the same drugs, but this provision was subsequently omitted from the bill and was not part of the legislation Rockefeller ultimately signed. The section of the laws applying to marijuana was repealed in 1979, under the Democratic Governor Hugh Carey.Source(s): http://educate-yourself.org/cn/drivergreershotjfk.... http://www.theforbiddenknowledge.com/hardtruth/the... http://www.onlinepot.org/grow/jackherer.htm http://secretsocietyindex.blogspot.com/1997/11/dup... http://www.talkradionews.com/white-house/2013/05/0... http://boingboing.net/2012/05/25/penn-jillettes-ra... http://www.prisonplanet.com/freeway-ricky-ross-on-... http://www.prisonplanet.com/insider-cia-orchestrat... http://undergrounddocumentaries.com/cover-up-behin... http://topdocumentaryfilms.com/grass/

You kidding me?
Do you realize how f*cking awesome it is for the law enforcement officers to get those big government subsidies in order to wage the war on drugs?
These people work in plain clothes, got heavy weaponry, get to fly around in black hawks; not to mention the lavish bonuses they get every time they make a big bust.
And you want to make marijuana legal and force them to going back to working a beat in uniform?
And think about all those poor, rich private prison owners...do you really want to put them out of a job just so we can have some sensible drug policy and put hundreds of thousands of non-violent offenders back on the street?
Where will all those private jets and lobster dinners go when they can't have them?
God, you libs are SO SELFISH!!!

It shouldn't. Sometimes when I get a fever, marijuana is the only thing to make me get out of the bed, all the over the counter legal drugs don't do squat.

California is known as the most liberal state in the nation.
yet, California voters voted against legalizing marijuana in proposition 19 in 2010.
Voters have spoken, liberals do not want to legalize marijuana.
- Anonymous7 years ago
I give up, tell us why it should remain illegal
Millions use it, whether it's legal or not, if it was legal everywhere you'd take $Billions out of the hands of organized crime
So, you tell us, why should it be illegal?
- Anonymous7 years ago
I know stupid cons. Our lord and savior Obama has been working really hard to legalize marijuana by shutting down more medical marijuana facilities than Bush.
- Anonymous7 years ago
Because personal behavior should never be regulated. You may be legal but you will not pass the drug test needed for me to hire you. However; it is not my right to take that choice away from you.
- Big KLv 77 years ago
Most of us either favor legalization or are indifferent. Obama's the one with the prohibition obsession, then again he might just be trying to help his cartel buddies... after all I'm sure his support of drug violence doesn't end at supplying them with guns.

Do what you want make your own choices. There are certain risks you take but life is all about risk.
I don't think you should smoke pot personally but you should not be thrown in jail for it.

For one, unlike alcohol, there is no roadside test to determine if someone is high, and it is far more dangerous to smoke pot and drive than it is to drink. It raises the risk for lung cancer as well as raises the risk of breast cancer in men. It elevates estrogen in men, as well, which can't be good, and it raises the risk for Alzheimer's, stroke, heart attack, and emphysema. Not to mention the fact that people who are long-term users are of little benefit to society. You don't see a lot of Fortune 500 CEOs sparking a joint. They don't have the time and they need every brain cell and ounce of motivation. In fact, outside of musicians, you don't see very many successful people anywhere who smoke weed regularly.
