in Pharma, after the drug was dissolved in GI system, it must be absorbed into the portal blood.
Does the portal blood mean the capillaries of the blood that fill our bodies?

Portal refers to the liver. So it means it is metabolized by the liver, as is every drug and food you consume.

The portal blood is the blood that flows from your gut (where drugs are absorbed from) to the liver (where the drugs are metabolized). The name of the big vessel that all the little vessels from your gut going to the liver become is the 'hepatic portal vein' and in it is 'portal blood'.
The liver also receives blood from the hepatic artery, but only 20% of the blood the liver gets comes from this vessel. 80% of the blood the liver gets comes from the hepatic portal vein.Source(s): Doctor
