A chemical engineer creates processes based upon chemical and physical changes. The processes are created by integrating principles from basic sciences (chemistry, physics, and mathematics) with consideration of economics, environmental impact, and employee safety.

The chemical engineering profession began as an interface between chemistry and mechanical engineering.
