Have you ever needed a replacement button?

Before I throw a shirt out, I take all the buttons off and save them in a jar to be used when needed.

My now elderly relative has been removing buttons and zippers from all clothing after it has been worn to death. She has tins, jars and boxes full of old buttons from the 1920's to present date. Her collection of buttons are vintage and awesome.

I have found that the metal buttons on jeans cause little holes in my knit untucked shirts from leaning against things. So, I am now replacing all of the metal buttons on my jeans and pants to plastic buttons. I have all the great buttons to choose from.

So, yes, I have used replacement buttons.

I used to do this with all the buttons off old clothes. Often had to use some of the buttons.
