Have you ever lost a screw from your eye glasses?
This has happened to me a couple of times. I took them to an eye glass store where they replaced the screw but when I tried to pay them, they refused to take any money. Just wondering if this has happened to you.

Most places don't charge to replace a lost screw in your glasses.
I have a tip for you and others though. In your case i am sure they probably checke all the screws when they replaced that one to be sure they were okay. But for others find the small screwdriver that fits the head of the screws on your glasses. You can often buy a set of the small screwdrivers for under a couple dollars. Tighten all the screws on your glasses, if you can't see well enough to do it yourself without your glasses being on then have someone else do it for you. After all the screws are tight put a small drop of clear fingernail polish on the head of the screw, b every careful not to get any on your lenses. this will keep the screws from working their way loose from opening and closing them.Source(s): Retired optician

This is normal. Whenever I don't need my old prescription glasses I remove all the tiny screws and keep them in a mini bottle. I throw away the lenses and the frames. The screws come in handy when I lose a screw from my exisiting pair of prescription eyeglasses.

A few times over the years. The drug store sells an eyeglass kit that has a tiny screwdriver and assorted screws.

The eyeglasses shops often try to do these minor repairs for free (trying to compete for business with numerous on-line eyeglasses sites by offering better service). I'm sure they buy the little screws & nose pads in massive quantities, so they are pretty cheap.

That is the most common repair we do in optical stores. Replacing screws and nose pads. ALL day , EVERY DAY...NON STOP some days.
It's normal not to charge for replacing a screw.Source(s): Optician

Yes. They do not sell screws at eyeglasses stores, at least not very cheap. I went to my grocery store to get them, but you can't be sure. If they have Wal-Marts where you live, get them from there, that's where I got them.
They sell them at drugstores, too. I got mine at a grocery store.Source(s): Losing my screw once.

Yes, always try to keep an extra few on hand for if you should ever really need them.
