Have you all heard about the new virus dogs are dying from?
I was just informed of this today and started reading up on it. Circovirus, found in pigs and birds, is now surfacing in dogs. Deaths in California have been confirmed and deaths in Michigan and Ohio are suspected. Dogs being kenneled and in dog day cares are highly susceptible to getting the virus from an infected dog. It can also be spread human to dog if the human has been around an infected dog. It is most likely spread through feces and vomit. There is no vaccine or treatment....it is lethal in a matter of a couple days.
This is the first I have heard about it.
Poggle...the birds mentions were parrots, parakeets and cockatoos.
I guess we will just have to wait and see what happens.

No haven't heard of it, googled it and here is one that I found: http://shine.yahoo.com/pets/5-things-know-8220-cir...
Doesn't sound like there is much I have to worry about but will run it by my vet on my next visit.

I'm in the UK and hadn't heard of this, thanks for posting. There appears to be a vaccine for fancy pigeons. Lets hope it isn't spread by wild birds.
Fingers crossed those are all caged birds and it doesn't spread to wild ones. Hopefully theres an information campaign there telling people not to let their birds come into contact with wild birds.

Yeah, I heard about it a few months ago but haven't really heard anything new about it since(and I haven't really looked into it either).

This is old news. Are the news stations recycling this story again?
