Why do Republicans, ca. 2014, pretend to still be the party of Lincoln?

when it's obvious that they've turned in to the party of Jefferson Davis?

Many of the conservatives who claim ownership of Lincoln also fly the Confederate flag. They probably don't catch the irony.

The phenomenon is known as "reflected glory." It is well known by the supporters of any team that has won a Super Bowl or World Series, and by Feminists who trumpet the achievement of any female who could walk and chew gum at the same time.

If you're implying that Lincoln would have been a liberal, then you have just demonstrated your ignorance and utter stupidity. Lincoln was not an America-hating socialist. Far from it. Try reading a little history and you might avoid looking like such an idiot in the future.

It's politically profitable for them to do so. And just like monkey boy said, it is ironic to see the same conservatives who claim Lincoln as one of their own turn around and fly a Confederate flag.

Every secessionist movement has conservative ties. East Oregon. North Colorado. Texas. The first two are rural areas of an otherwise liberal state. Texas has been trying to secede for decades. It's as anti-american as Putin's pet goat.

Have you read any of Lincoln's quotes on liberty? He is nothing like the modern day Democrat.
