Why are the car companies in Detroit and Flint, Michigan failing?

Like why is the economy so bad over there? Does it affect the car companies? And will they stop making there cars if it's so bad?

Your question is about 5 or 6 years too late. In 2008 and 2009, GM and Chrysler were on the brink of collapsing and needed to be bailed out by the government. Ford survived without the need of a government bailout but did so by selling off a lot of the other brands ( such as Volvo and Jaguar ) that they owned.

Now if you're asking why the city of Detroit is bankrupt, that is another question entirely but it does not belong in the CARS & TRANSPORTATION section.

The car companies are not failing. They're selling the best cars they've ever made and their profits and revenues are increasing every year. Why is the city failing? because of mismanagement.

probly high cost of production due to high salaries they have to pay. cheaper in asia etc. so government needs to pidge in.
