Why do Christians still deem sins to be sins ?

Adam and Eve ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. The reason this was a sin is because it gave them the power to decide what was right and wrong rather than leaving it in Gods hands. So by that token shouldn't it be up to man to decide what he deems right and wrong rather than God still deciding and rewarding or punishing for all eternity based on his definition?

@Seraphim - I'm not fretting, I don't believe in God, I'm just interested in others beliefs and can't work out the point of the Christian concept of original sin if it didn't move moral responsibility from God to man, and if it did why God still feels fit to judge.

@Gweilo - Ummmm.... you sure you're even answering the right question?

Update 2:

@Simple Jack - As far as I understand Christian teaching God decided what was right and wrong, so Adam and Eve disobeying him was wrong. However the consequence of their wrongdoing shifted the responsibility from God to Man so from that point on it was up to them not God.

@mopar Mike - Then what was the point of the tree of knowledge of good and evil? Wasn't this point the very reason God forbade eating from it?

They Sinned because they disobey God!

Jesus says in Matthew 5:17-20 that he was Not here to start a new religion, but to fix the Jewish one. Plus requires us to Obey All of the 613 Commandments that God gave to Moses!...

Since you are so sinful, what do you get out of a life with Out any Love?

    For your interest...

1849 Sin is an offense against reason, truth, and right conscience; it is failure in genuine love for God and neighbor caused by a perverse attachment to certain goods. It wounds the nature of man and injures human solidarity. It has been defined as "an utterance, a deed, or a desire contrary to the eternal law."121

1850 Sin is an offense against God: "Against you, you alone, have I sinned, and done that which is evil in your sight."

122 Sin sets itself against Gods love for us and turns our hearts away from it. Like the first sin, it is disobedience, a revolt against God through the will to become "like gods,"123 knowing and determining good and evil. Sin is thus "love of oneself even to contempt of God."

124 In this proud self- exaltation, sin is diametrically opposed to the obedience of Jesus, which achieves our salvation.

Brainwashing. Children born into families that adhere to one faith or another, are given no choice but to accept their parents' beliefs.

Unless they see the light during their teenage years, they are going to be stuck with dumb notions such as sinning against a god, for the rest of their lives.

These days about one in five of us are thoughtful enough and courageous enough to reject all of the nonsense that religions have to offer. We can choose a rational approach to our lives...one which does not depend upon volumes of mythology and superstition.

What is right and wrong is not " decided " It's already established.

" based on his definition "

His definition is THE definition of right and wrong.

Also, I get the impression from your post that you see God's reasons for something being right or wrong as arbitrary and not mattering.

God didn't want them to not eat from the Tree of knowledge of good an evil because he's and ego maniac that doesn't want competition, but because he knew it would not lead to their fulfillment and happiness.

it is written.................that NO sin can enter heaven. No matter what civil law is deemed rigth or wrong...Gods laws never change.

in order to inherit the kingdom...man must NOT be of the world...but obeying Gods origional laws...

Adam and eve ate of the fruit of good and evil...from that monent on...they are now exposed to good and evil.....nut it is now for all mankind to chose from good and evil...

its not up to us what is evil or good...but what is up to God

So, you claim it was a sin for Adam and Eve to choose for themselves what is right/wrong, but then say it's right for us to do that.

    How does that work?

What you don't understand or overlooking is when you're under someone else house/live under their roof you have to abide by their rules. God created everything we see and even what we cannot so it all belongs to Him,even we ourselves. We have to obey his rules which aren't evil by any means (the law of love being the main one that summarizes/fulfills the rest) He says this is the way to get what we need and so if we decide to disobey we will have to face the consequences ,something that keeps the peace and makes sure that our rights and those of others aren't being violated by those whom don't respect rules and regulations

A person can better know and practice true morality, while avoiding many sins, if he or she practices devotion to the rosary.

Surya Siddhanta came up with sine, cosine, and tangent a long time ago. You cannot argue with their logic.

Because He is God and His decision is the right one. Humans don't know squat.
