    Space was not invented.

To invent something means to create something that didn't already exist.

Space existed 13.5 billion years before Edison was born.

The space is all about where there is bundle of stars planets, and our planet is also in space then it will be on space, but for this question Did Edison invent space is NO, because the first person to see and feel the space is which would make him the first human to travel into space. Yuri Gagarin: "First Man in Space" But there was other scientists before Yuri Gagarin is Sir Isaac Newton to discover the space with his self designed telescope.

The Encyclopedia Galactica has this to say on the subject of space: Space is as old as the universe itself, and is a creation in and of itself.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy has this to say: If space is in fact an invention of a brilliant mind, that mind is in fact not so brilliant because it forgot to file a patent for it's wonderful creation. It remained unclaimed until a lava dweller named Zephyr Magnus from the Corot 7 system thought to himself "I can make a lot of money out of this," and claimed credit for the creation of space, filing a patent shortly afterward. Of course no one believed him, and thought that he had fallen off the deep end. However, there was no fault found in his patent, seeing as no one else had thought of this before, and credit for the creation of space was awarded to him. The word space was copyrighted, and he acquired a grand sum of wealth from the royalties. To his dismay, it all melted away in the lava seas of Corot 7b.

To avoid having to pay royalties when referring to space, some have taken to referring to it as "the big black void that isn't a planet or star," or "not air," while others have avoided it all together.

Space, as we know it, came to be by the Big Bang theory roughly 13.7 billion years ago.

As for what caused the Big Bang theory is a controversial question.
