    The leading strand is probably the strand in the front. The lagging strand is probably the strand in the back.

    DNA can only replicate if it splits itself into two strands first, and then each strand replicates on its own by having different proteins attach itself to the "loose" strands. The proteins are chosen according to which proteins (A, G, C, T/U) are already on the strand.
