these are some that i want to make sure are right?

1.Which of the following terms does not belong with the rest?

Select one:

enzyme

active site

lipid

substrate

reaction

2.The diploid number of chromosomes in a human skin cell is 46. The number of chromosomes found in a human ovum is

Select one:

46.

92.

23.

12.5.

3.The movement of any molecule from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration is called:

Select one:

diffusion, because particles are moving with the concentration gradient

endocytosis

osmosis, because solute is moving across the membrane

diffusion, because particles are moving against the concentration gradient

4.ATP is called a cell’s “energy currency” because

Select one:

ATP catalyzes all metabolic reactions.

ATP allows one organelle to be exchanged for another between cells.

glucose is made of ATP.

most of the energy that drives metabolism is supplied by ATP.

5.A controlled experiment allows the scientist to isolate and test

Select one:

a mass of information

a conclusion

several variables

a single variable

Select one:

Analogous (similar in their role) to organs in the human body

Perform very specific functions

Mean tiny organs in Latin

all choices are correct

7.Hydrogen bonds typically help hold ______ molecules together.

Select one:

DNA

Sodium Chloride

    1. Lipid (the other terms refers to enzymes; lipid is nothing to do with enzymes.)

    2. 23 (an ovum is a gamete, gametes have the haploid numner which is the diploid number divided by 2).

    3. diffusion particles are moving with the concentration gradient

    4. most of the energy that drives metabolism is supplied by ATP

    5. A single variable

    6. All choices are correct

    1. Lipid. The rest describe the enzyme.

    2. 23 (N)

    3. Diffusion moves solute from high to low.

Osmosis moves water from areas of low solute to high solute.

Endocytosis is engulfment of foreign material into the cell.

    Exocytosis pushes it out.

    4. ATP is the mode of energy transfer used in most cells. Hydrolysis of ATP -> ADP is highly exothermic and releases a large sum of energy to fuel the endothermic processes such as breaking down glucose into Pyruvate.

    5. No idea

    6. I'd say all choices. Organs such as the liver are high in smooth er due to the detoxifying function.

    7. DNA. Hydrogen bonds exist between complementary bases, Phosphodiester bonds exist between adjacent nucleotides.
