Wouldn't peanuts be a fruit?

Ik this sounds stupid but fruits are supposed to have seeds in them. Then whats the thing inside the peanut? Isn't that a seed?

They are legumes, not nuts. They are a type of simple fruit, and so are nuts.

From wiki's Peanut page: "Because, in botanical terms, "nut" specifically refers to indehiscent fruit, the peanut is not technically a nut, but rather a legume."

You know I thought the same thing.

    But I'm pretty sure it's a nut.

But then I think about bananas which have a peel. Peanuts have like a peel type thing.

Ugh. I think you're right. It should be a fruit. Lol now I'm going to be calling it a fruit.

    Lol you're the best XD
