Psychology doesn't involve prescribing drugs, I think you're confusing it with psychiatry.
Psychiatry is absolutely a science. The effects of each drug are studied extensively before they're ever prescribed to patients. I do agree that drugs are used more often than they should be though. In some cases they are needed, and I'm glad they're available for those individuals, but a variety of psychological techniques (which by definition do not involve the use of medication) should be tried first.
