How to become more informed on current events?

I consider myself un-informed on current events, especially on political issues, like whats happening in Syria for example. What I mean by un-informed, is that I know too little in order to carry out a decent conversation about them. How do I go about becoming a more informed person?

Get reading - there is LOADS of information about world affairs out there, not the least being online, if you search. Don't buy into the gutter press however. News broadcasts on reliable TV station should help.

Listen to and watch news broadcasts.

Follow discussions on TV about the subject that interests you, such as Syria,

that way you will absorb more of what is going on around you and around the

    world.

Read the serious newspapers and journals on the subject.

Read a quality newspaper and learn to read between the lines of TV news programmes.
